Samsung Excellence Award

The Samsung award ceremony took place at the Samsung Electronics Headquarters in Korea on November 15, 2017. CTDI impressed the jury with its Rev-1 tester and won the Samsung Excellence Award for this tester.

At the Global Service Technology Awards on November 15, 2017 in Korea, Daniel Park (Director of Global Service Team at Samsung Mobile Headquarter) presented the Samsung Excellence Award to CTDI for its Rev-1 tester. The award is justification for the hard work, dedication and an innovative vision from our R&D teams in Europe and the US.

The tester was developed by CTDI and has already been used successfully in quality testing at the CTDI Samsung Service Center Italy. Rev-1 was able to perform over 22 tests and identify “faults”. A fully automated robotics solution that eliminates any subjective decision and results in a significant increase in quality.

Because of these results, CTDI was invited to the international contest in Korea where a committee were in charge of deciding out of 15 international participants who would win the award.

At this event, the representatives Massimiliano Abbate (Samsung Italy), Jaroslaw Ziemniak (CTDI Samsung Program Manager), Mario Huber (Head of Engineering MCE) and Nidhin Davis (CTDI West Chester Engineering) were presented with the Excellence Award for the tester.

Commenting on the award Keith Littler, General Manager – Samsung Europe, Mobile Devices Customer Support said “During 2017 CTDI has become the key strategic service partner for Samsung in Europe. This recognition from Samsung Global Customer Service group is very welcomed and a great testament to the CTDI engineering capabilities that complement the service operations very well”.

The Rev-1 tester belongs to CTDI's Mobile & Consumer Device Tester product portfolio. It is used to test the functionalities of mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets utilising CTDI software and robotics.

The robotic solution, replicates the end user interaction to identify issues. When the smartphone or tablet is tested, it is always the same process that is performed, tailored to the respective device. This results in every test being tested being consistent and accurate.

According to a pre-defined program that is run, the tester performs the tests autonomously, ranging from tests of the touchscreen, the buttons, the Bluetooth, the cameras, to pixel and vibration tests.

In the future, this tester is to be used at further worldwide service centre facilities supporting Samsung.
