"I had wished for a vocational training position where I would learn as much as possible, do a wide variety of tasks, and have nice colleagues. And I have to say, my expectations were exceeded!“
Fabian Lindenmann is currently doing a vocational training course to become an electronics technician for devices and systems at CTDI GmbH's Malsch facility. During his vocational training, he will gain experience in all the workshops, and he will also become familiar with related areas such as logistics, quality, etc.
Why did you decide to do a vocational training course to become an electronics technician for devices and systems at CTDI?
The job advertisement appealed to me very much. I already knew some of the tasks because of the various internships that I had done, so I knew that this was exactly the right thing for me.
What did you expect from your vocational training course, and did your wishes come true?
I had wished for a vocational training position where I would learn as much as possible, do a wide variety of tasks, and have nice colleagues. And I have to say, my expectations were exceeded! My team is really cool, I have helpful bosses, and I am looking forward to going to work every day. I enjoy my tasks very much, and luckily, I am not always doing the same thing all the time. And what is more, I do think that the flexitime regulations and some of the other working conditions are of great benefit to everybody.
What do you think makes CTDI special as a company providing vocational training?
At vocational school, we often talk to each other about our everyday work, and most of my fellow trainees say the tuition provided or the relationship to their bosses is not good, or it doesn't even exist in the first place. For me here at the CTDI, this is not the case at all. If I need anything or if there is something I do not understand, I can go to my bosses, to other colleagues or to my trainee mentor any time.
What do you think of the cooperation with Siemens where the trainees temporarily also work for Siemens?
I think this is a very good thing because it enabled me to learn all the important basics – which I needed at the beginning – in my first year.
How did you develop personally during your vocational training?
I believe I have become more orderly, more reliable, and more responsible.
What does your career planning look like? Do you already know what to do after the end of your vocational training?
First of all, I am very glad that I can stay on with CTDI after my vocational training. In the next few years, I would, first of all, like to gain some vocational experience, and then, with the help of CTDI, take the next step to continue my vocational training, that is, do a further training course to become a certified technician.
